1لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِI swear by the Day of Resurrection2وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِAnd I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]6 lectures →3أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥDoes man think that We will not assemble his bones4بَلَىٰ قَٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُۥYes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips1 lecture →5بَلۡ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥBut man desires to continue in sin6يَسۡـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِHe asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection7فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُSo when vision is dazzled8وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُAnd the moon darkens9وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُAnd the sun and the moon are joined10يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّMan will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape3 lectures →11كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَNo! There is no refuge12إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّTo your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence13يُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَMan will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back14بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٞRather, man, against himself, will be a witness3 lectures →15وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥEven if he presents his excuses16لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦٓMove not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an17إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥIndeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation18فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥSo when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation19ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهُۥThen upon Us is its clarification [to you]20كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَNo! But you love the immediate1 lecture →21وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَAnd leave the Hereafter22وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاضِرَةٌ[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant1 lecture →23إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٞLooking at their Lord1 lecture →24وَوُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بَاسِرَةٞAnd [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted25تَظُنُّ أَن يُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٞExpecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking26كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِيَNo! When the soul has reached the collar bones27وَقِيلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقٖAnd it is said, "Who will cure [him]2 lectures →28وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُAnd the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation29وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِAnd the leg is wound about the leg30إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُTo your Lord, that Day, will be the procession31فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰAnd the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed32وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰBut [instead], he denied and turned away33ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓAnd then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride]34أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰWoe to you, and woe35ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰٓThen woe to you, and woe36أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَن يُتۡرَكَ سُدًىDoes man think that he will be left neglected1 lecture →37أَلَمۡ يَكُ نُطۡفَةٗ مِّن مَّنِيّٖ يُمۡنَىٰHad he not been a sperm from semen emitted38ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةٗ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰThen he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]39فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓAnd made of him two mates, the male and the female40أَلَيۡسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحۡـِۧيَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰIs not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead
