وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي مِرۡيَةٖ مِّنۡهُ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغۡتَةً أَوۡ يَأۡتِيَهُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمٍ عَقِيمٍ
But those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt of it until the Hour comes upon them unexpectedly or there comes to them the punishment of a barren Day
A prophet’s call is marked by the greatness of convincing arguments. But those who are accustomed to seeing only outward greatness, are unable to detect the inner greatness of the prophet and consequently deny it. Such people are always in doubt because they want to see the Truth in external glory. And it is the way of God that He brings Truth in the abstract to people, so that those who recognise Truth may acknowledge it and attach themselves to it and those who are enamoured of outward show may ignore it and prove themselves finally guilty. Denying the signs means that man ignores the Truth, even when it is supported by sound argument. He is not willing to accept the Truth, even if it is staring him in the face.
پیغمبر کی دعوت میں دلیل کی عظمت پوری طرح موجود ہوتی ہے۔ مگر وہ لوگ جو صرف ظاہری عظمتوں کو جانتے ہیں وہ پیغمبر کی معنوی عظمت کو دیکھ نہیں پاتے اور اس کا انکار کردیتے ہیں۔ ایسے لوگ ہمیشہ شک و شبہ میں پڑے رہتے ہیں۔ کیوں کہ وہ حق کو ظاہری عظمتوں میں دیکھنا چاہتے ہیں۔ اور اللہ کی سنت یہ ہے کہ وہ حق کو مجرد روپ میں لوگوں کے سامنے لائے تاکہ جو لوگ حقیقت شناس ہیں وہ اس کو پہچان کر اس سے وابستہ ہوجائیں۔ اور جو ظاہر پرست ہیں وہ اس کو نظر انداز کرکے اپنا مجرم ہونا ثابت کریں۔
’’آیتوں کو جھٹلانا‘‘ یہ ہے کہ آدمی دلیل کی سطح پر ظاہرہونے والے حق کو نظر انداز کردے۔ وہ اس صداقت کو ماننے کے ليے تیار نہ ہو جو مجرد روپ میں اس کے سامنے ظاہر ہوئی ہے۔
