1الٓرۚ تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَقُرۡءَانٖ مُّبِينٖAlif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an1 lecture →2رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوۡ كَانُواْ مُسۡلِمِينَPerhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims3ذَرۡهُمۡ يَأۡكُلُواْ وَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ وَيُلۡهِهِمُ ٱلۡأَمَلُۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَLet them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know1 lecture →4وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٞ مَّعۡلُومٞAnd We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree5مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَNo nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter6وَقَالُواْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونٞAnd they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad4 lectures →7لَّوۡمَا تَأۡتِينَا بِٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَWhy do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful8مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓاْ إِذٗا مُّنظَرِينَWe do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved1 lecture →9إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَIndeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian10 lectures →10وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَAnd We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples11وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَAnd no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him1 lecture →12كَذَٰلِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَThus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals13لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَThey will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples14وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم بَابٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعۡرُجُونَAnd [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend15لَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمٞ مَّسۡحُورُونَThey would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic16وَلَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجٗا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَAnd We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers17وَحَفِظۡنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٍAnd We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]18إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ مُّبِينٞExcept one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame19وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ مَّوۡزُونٖAnd the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing20وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَAnd We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers21وَإِن مِّن شَيۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٖ مَّعۡلُومٖAnd there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure22وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَAnd We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers23وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَAnd indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor24وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِينَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَـٔۡخِرِينَAnd We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come]25وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٞAnd indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing26وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖAnd We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud27وَٱلۡجَآنَّ خَلَقۡنَٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِAnd the jinn We created before from scorching fire28وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّي خَٰلِقُۢ بَشَرٗا مِّن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖAnd [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud1 lecture →29فَإِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُواْ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَAnd when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration1 lecture →30فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَSo the angels prostrated - all of them entirely1 lecture →31إِلَّآ إِبۡلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَExcept Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated32قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate1 lecture →33قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖHe said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud34قَالَ فَٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٞ[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled35وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكَ ٱللَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِAnd indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense1 lecture →36قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِيٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَHe said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected37قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِينَ[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved38إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡوَقۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِUntil the Day of the time well-known39قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغۡوَيۡتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِيَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all10 lectures →40إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَExcept, among them, Your chosen servants41قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسۡتَقِيمٌ[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight42إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيۡسَ لَكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِينَIndeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators4 lectures →43وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَAnd indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all44لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَٰبٖ لِّكُلِّ بَابٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءٞ مَّقۡسُومٌIt has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated45إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍIndeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs46ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]47وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَAnd We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other1 lecture →48لَا يَمَسُّهُمۡ فِيهَا نَصَبٞ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِينَNo fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed49۞نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِيٓ أَنِّيٓ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful50وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ٱلۡأَلِيمُAnd that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment51وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَيۡفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَAnd inform them about the guests of Abraham52إِذۡ دَخَلُواْ عَلَيۡهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰمٗا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَWhen they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you53قَالُواْ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٖ[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy54قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِي عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَHe said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform55قَالُواْ بَشَّرۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَٰنِطِينَThey said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing56قَالَ وَمَن يَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَHe said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray57قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers58قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرۡسِلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمٖ مُّجۡرِمِينَThey said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals59إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَExcept the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all1 lecture →60إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَExcept his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind61فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَAnd when the messengers came to the family of Lot62قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمٞ مُّنكَرُونَHe said, "Indeed, you are people unknown63قَالُواْ بَلۡ جِئۡنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمۡتَرُونَThey said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing64وَأَتَيۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَAnd we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful65فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعٖ مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا يَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدٞ وَٱمۡضُواْ حَيۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَSo set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded66وَقَضَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقۡطُوعٞ مُّصۡبِحِينَAnd We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning67وَجَآءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَAnd the people of the city came rejoicing68قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيۡفِي فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me69وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِAnd fear Allah and do not disgrace me70قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَThey said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people71قَالَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]72لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِي سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَBy your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly1 lecture →73فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِينَSo the shriek seized them at sunrise74فَجَعَلۡنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٍAnd We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay75إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِينَIndeed in that are signs for those who discern10 lectures →76وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٖ مُّقِيمٍAnd indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road77إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَIndeed in that is a sign for the believers78وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَيۡكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَAnd the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers79فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٖ مُّبِينٖSo We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway80وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَAnd certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers81وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُواْ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِينَAnd We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away82وَكَانُواْ يَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَAnd they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure83فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِينَBut the shriek seized them at early morning84فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَSo nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn85وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِيلَAnd We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness1 lecture →86إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُIndeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator87وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَٰكَ سَبۡعٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِي وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِيمَAnd We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an1 lecture →88لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيۡنَيۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجٗا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَDo not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers89وَقُلۡ إِنِّيٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلۡمُبِينُAnd say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner90كَمَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِينَJust as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators91ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُواْ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِينَWho have made the Qur'an into portions92فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡـَٔلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَSo by your Lord, We will surely question them all93عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَAbout what they used to do94فَٱصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَThen declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists1 lecture →95إِنَّا كَفَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِينَIndeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers96ٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَWho make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know97وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَAnd We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say98فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَSo exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]99وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأۡتِيَكَ ٱلۡيَقِينُAnd worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death)1 lecture →
