يَٰصَٰحِبَيِ ٱلسِّجۡنِ أَمَّآ أَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسۡقِي رَبَّهُۥ خَمۡرٗاۖ وَأَمَّا ٱلۡأٓخَرُ فَيُصۡلَبُ فَتَأۡكُلُ ٱلطَّيۡرُ مِن رَّأۡسِهِۦۚ قُضِيَ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ تَسۡتَفۡتِيَانِ
O two companions of prison, as for one of you, he will give drink to his master of wine; but as for the other, he will be crucified, and the birds will eat from his head. The matter has been decreed about which you both inquire
Of the two youths who were put in jail, one was a bread maker and the other was a wine-server to the king of Egypt. Both were accused of trying to poison the food of the king. On investigation, the wine-server proved to be innocent of the allegation. He was released from the jail and was again appointed as a wine-server to the king. His dream meant that he was serving wine to the king in dream and after few days he would really serve wine while awake. The bread maker was proved guilty. He was hanged and left for the birds to peck at his body and, in this way, be a lesson to the people. Both the interpretations of Joseph proved to be correct but, after reaching the palace, the wine-server forgot to mention Joseph to the king as promised. He remembered his promise only when the king had a dream and asked his courtiers to interpret it.
دو نوجوان جو جیل میں لائے گئے وہ شاہ مصر (ریان بن الولید) کے ساقی اور خبّاز تھے۔ دونوں پر یہ الزام تھاکہ انھوں نے بادشاہ کے کھانے میں زہر ملانے کی کوشش کی۔ ان میں سے جو ساقی تھا وہ تحقیق کے بعد الزام سے بری ثابت ہوا اور رہائی پاکر دوبارہ بادشاہ کا ساقی مقرر ہوا۔ اس کے خواب کامطلب یہ تھا کہ اب وہ بادشاہ کو خواب میں شراب پلا رہا ہے کچھ دن بعدوہ بیداری میں اس کو شراب پلائے گا۔ خبّاز پر الزام ثابت ہوگیا۔ اس کو سولی دے کر چھوڑ دیاگیا کہ چڑیاں اس کا گوشت کھائیں اور وہ لوگوں کے لیے عبرت ہو۔
حضرت یوسف کی دونوں تعبیریں بالکل درست ثابت ہوئیں۔ مگر ساقی قید سے چھوٹ کر دوبارہ محل میں پہنچا تو وہ حسبِ وعدہ بادشاہ سے حضرت یوسف کا ذکر کرنا بھول گیا۔ اس کو اپنا کیا ہوا وعدہ صرف اس وقت یاد آیا جب کہ بادشاہ نے ایک خواب دیکھا اور درباریوں سے کہا کہ اس کی تعبیر بتاؤ۔
