مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَسۡمَآءٗ سَمَّيۡتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلۡطَٰنٍۚ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Legislation is not but for Allah. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know
The young prisoners approached Joseph in order to know the interpretation of their dreams. The manner in which they put their questions to Joseph was a clear indication that they were impressed by his personality and relied on his opinion. This approach was natural in the case of a righteous and principled person like Joseph. Joseph, with his missionary spirit, immediately realised that this was the best opportunity to convey the message of truth to these youths. But, after hearing the interpretation of their dreams, their attention might have been diverted from Joseph. So he adopted a wise approach and delayed the interpretation for some time. Thereafter he talked to them briefly about the unity of God and, in view of the mentality of the addressees, he used superior reasoning to convey his message to them.
نوجوان قیدیوں نے اپنے خواب کی تعبیر جاننے کے لیے حضرت یوسف سے رجوع کیا۔ انھوں نے جس انداز سے سوال کیا اس سے صاف ظاہر ہو رہا تھا کہ وہ آ پ کی شخصیت سے متاثر ہیں۔ اور آپ کی رائے پر اعتماد کرتے ہیں۔ حضرت یوسف جیسے نیک اور بااصول انسان کے ساتھ ایک عرصہ تک رہنے کے بعد ایسا ہونا بالکل فطری تھا۔
حضرت یوسف کے دعوتی جذبے نے فوراً محسوس کرلیا کہ یہ بہترین موقع ہے کہ ان نوجوانوں کو دینِ حق کا پیغام پہنچایا جائے۔ مگر خواب کی تعبیر فوراً بتادینے کے بعد ان کی توجہ آپ کی طرف سے ہٹ جاتی۔ چنانچہ آپ نے حکیمانہ انداز اختیار کیا اور خواب کی تعبیر کو تھوڑی دیر کے لیے مؤخر کردیا۔ اس کے بعد آپ نے توحید پر مختصر تقریر کی۔ اس میں مخاطب کی نفسیات کی رعایت کرتے ہوئے نہایت خوب صورت استدلال کے ساتھ اپنا پیغام انھیں سنادیا۔
درخت، پتھر، ستارے یا ارواح وغیرہ کو جو لوگ پوجتے ہیں اس کا راز یہ ہے کہ وہ بطور خود ان کو مشکل کشا اور حاجت روا جیسے القاب دیتے ہیں اور سمجھ لیتے ہیں کہ واقعۃً وہ مشکل کشا اور حاجت روا ہیں۔ حالاں کہ یہ سب انسان کے اپنے بنائے ہوئے اسم ہیں جن کا مسمی خارج میں کہیں موجود نہیں۔
