قُلۡ هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنشَأَكُمۡ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ
Say, "It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful
Man has been granted the powers of hearing, seeing and thinking. Some individuals are so constituted that whatever they hear they follow, whatever they see they accept at face value, and whatever comes into their minds they uncritically retain. This type of person is like an animal which goes ahead with its head down, toeing a fixed line. Quite another type of person is one who investigates whatever he hears, who tries to understand more accurately whatever he sees, and who discovers the Truth by coming out of his personal shell. This second type of person is one who straightens himself up and walks on a straight path—the qualities of hearing, observation and sensitivity have been given to man so that he may recognise the truth and not be as ignorant or unaware as a blind or deaf person.
انسان کو سننے اور دیکھنے اور سوچنے کی صلاحیتیں دی گئی ہیں۔ اب کوئی انسان وہ ہے کہ جو کچھ سنا اسی پر چل پڑا، جو دیکھا اس کو بس اس کے ظاہر کے اعتبار سے مان لیا۔ جو بات ایک بار ذہن میں آگئی اسی پر جم گیا۔ یہ انسان وہ ہے جو جانور کی طرح سرجھکائے ہوئے بس ایک ڈگر پر چلا جا رہا ہے۔
دوسرا انسان وہ ہے جو سنی ہوئی بات کی تحقیق کرے۔ جو دیکھی ہوئی بات کو مزید زیادہ صحت کے ساتھ جاننے کی کوشش کرے۔ جو اپنے ذاتی خول سے باہر نکل کر سچائی کو دریافت کرے۔ یہ دوسرا انسان وہ ہے جو سیدھا ہو کر ایک ہموار راستہ پر چلا جا رہا ہے— سمع و بصر و فواد کی صلاحیت آدمی کو اس لیے دی گئی ہے کہ وہ حق کو پہچانے، نہ یہ کہ وہ اندھے بہرے کی طرح اس سے بے خبر رہے۔
