وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left
‘Those on the Left’ (ashab ash-shimal) means those to whom is condign punishment will be meted out. Deceived by the amenities they had in this world, they had made things other than God the centre of their attention, and this is the greatest human crime. They had made themselves so forgetful of the Hereafter, it was as if it was not to become a reality at all. Such people will receive severe punishment on the Day of Judgement.
اصحاب الشمال (بائیں طرف والے) سے مراد وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے لیے عذاب کا فیصلہ کیا جائے گا۔ دنیا میں انہیں جو چیزیں ملی تھیں انہوں نے ان کو دھوکے میں ڈال دیا۔ وہ اللہ کے سوا دوسری چیزوں کو اپنا مرکز توجہ بنائے رہے۔ جو اس دنیا میں کسی انسان کا سب سے بڑا جرم ہے۔ وہ آخرت کو اس طرح بھولے رہے گویا کہ وہ آنے والی ہی نہیں۔ ایسے لوگ فیصلہ کے دن سخت عذاب کے مستحق قرار دیے جائیں گے۔
