كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوۡ مَجۡنُونٌ
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman
If a serious man demands reasoning in support of any point at issue, he will concede to it if the argument presented is convincing. But those who are arrogant by nature, are never so persuaded. They will find some fresh excuse to reject the argument. Even if some proposition which cannot be countered is put forward, they will ignore it, saying that it is ‘magic’. This is the attitude of those who have reached a high status in their community. Their consciousness of being great becomes an impediment to their acceptance of the Truth as asserted by others. If such people reject the call for Truth, the preacher should not be disheartened. He will find supporters among others who are free of any false sense of prestige.
ایک سنجیدہ آدمی اگر کسی بات کی دلیل مانگے تو دلیل سامنے آنے کے بعد وہ اس کو مان لیتا ہے۔ مگر جو لوگ سرکشی کا مزاج رکھتے ہوں انہیں کسی بھی دلیل سے چپ نہیں کیا جاسکتا۔ وہ ہر دلیل کو نہ ماننے کے لیے دوبارہ کچھ نئے الفاظ پا لیں گے۔ حتی کہ اگر ان کے سامنے ایسی دلیل پیش کردی جائے جس کا توڑ ممکن نہ ہو تو وہ یہ کہہ کر اسے نظر انداز کردیں گے کہ یہ تو جادو ہے۔
یہ ان لوگوں کا حال ہے جن کو قوم کے اندر بڑائی کا درجہ مل گیا ہو۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لیے ان کی بڑائی کا احساس اس میں رکاوٹ بن جاتا ہے کہ وہ کسی دوسرے شخص کی زبان سے جاری ہونے والی سچائی کو مان لیں۔ ایسے لوگ اگر دعوت حق کو نہ مانیں تو داعی کو مایوس نہ ہونا چاہيے۔ وہ ان دوسرے لوگوں میں اپنے حامی پا لے گا جو جھوٹی بڑائی کے احساس میں مبتلا ہونے سے بچے ہوئے ہوں۔
