وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَفَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا مُّجۡرِمِينَ
But as for those who disbelieved, [it will be said], "Were not Our verses recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a people of criminals
Here arrogance does not imply contempt for God, it is directed rather against the messenger of God. In the present world, accepting God’s word is, in effect, synonymous with acceptance of the word of the messenger of Truth. Now, those who suffer from overweening pride consider it beneath their dignity to accept the word of a man like themselves. So they ignore it. Unlike them, those who are free of pride immediately bow down before it. While the wrath of God will descend upon the former, the latter will be blessed by the grace of God. One who denies the Truth makes different types of statements in order to justify his stand. Sometimes he tries to prove the preacher untrustworthy and sometimes he tries to cast doubts upon his message. But it will be clear on the Day of Judgement that these attempts stemmed from a sinful mentality and not from a Truth-loving mind.
تكبر سے مراد خدا كے مقابله ميں تكبر نهيں هے بلكه خدا كے داعي كے مقابله ميں تكبر هے۔ خدا كي بات كو ماننا موجوده دنيا ميں عملاً خدا كے داعي كي بات كو ماننے كے هم معني هوتا هے۔ اب جو لوگ تكبر ميں مبتلا هوں وه اس كو اپنے مرتبه سے كم تر سمجھتے هيں كه وه اپنے جيسے ايك انسان كي بات مان ليں۔ چنانچه وه اس كو نظر انداز كر ديتے هيں۔ اس كے برعكس، جو لوگ تكبر كي نفسيات سے خالي هوں وه فوراً اس كے آگے جھك جاتے هيں۔ پهلے گروه كے لیے خدا كا غضب هے اور دوسرے گروه كے لیے خدا كي رحمت۔
ايك انسان جب حق كا انكار كرتا هے تو اپنے انكار كو جائز ثابت كرنے كے ليے وه طرح طرح كي باتيں كرتا هے۔ وه كبھي داعي كو ناقابل اعتماد ثابت كرتا هے كبھي داعي كے پيغام ميں شك وشبه كا پهلو نكالتا هے۔مگر قيامت كے دن كھل جائے گا كه يه سب مجرمانه ذهن سے نكلي هوئي باتيں تھيں، نه كه حق پرستانه ذهن سے نكلي هوئي باتيں۔
