قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسۡجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقۡتُ بِيَدَيَّۖ أَسۡتَكۡبَرۡتَ أَمۡ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَالِينَ
[Allah] said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty
God made man a creature of exalted stature and, as a token thereof, He ordered the angels and the jinn to prostrate themselves before him. When Satan (Iblis) did not bow before Adam, he became the eternally cursed one. But this incident was not only serious from the viewpoint of Satan; it was of the utmost importance for Adam himself. By refusing to bow down before Adam, Satan forever became the enemy of the entire human race. This event foreboded that man’s journey through life would not be an easy one, and would be full of serious impediments. Man would have to strive to keep himself on the right path and resist the inducements and promptings of Satan in order to reach his destination safely. Satan’s evil scheming stands between man and Paradise. Only one who keeps himself safe from Satan’s machinations will enter the everlasting gardens of Paradise; those who fail to tear down the barrier of Satan’s treachery, will be deprived of Paradise.
اللہ تعالیٰ نے انسان کو ایک انتہائی اعلیٰ مخلوق کی حیثیت سے بنایا۔ اور اس کی علامت کے طور پر فرشتوں اور جنوں کو حکم دیاکہ وہ اس کو سجدہ کریں۔ اس کے بعد جب ایسا ہوا کہ ابلیس نے آدم کو سجدہ نہیں کیا تو وہ ہمیشہ کےلیے ملعون قرار پاگیا۔ مگر اس سنگین واقعہ کی اہمیت صرف ابلیس کے اعتبار سے نہ تھی بلکہ خود آدم کےلیے بھی اس کی بے حد اہمیت تھی۔
آدم کے آگے جھکنے سے انکار کرکے ابلیس ابدی طور پر نسلِ آدم کا حریف بن گیا۔ اس طرح انسانی تاریخ اول روز سے ایک نئے رخ پر چل پڑی۔ اس واقعہ نے طے کر دیا کہ انسان کےلیے زندگی کا سفر کوئی سادہ سفر نہیں ہوگا بلکہ شدید مزاحمت کا سفر ہوگا۔ اس کو ابلیس کے بہکاؤں اور اس کی پرفریب تدبیروں کا مقابلہ کرتے ہوئے اپنے آپ کو صحیح راستہ پر قائم رکھنا ہوگا تاکہ وہ سلامتی کے ساتھ اپنی منزل تک پہنچ سکے۔
انسان اور جنت کے درمیان شیطان کی فریب کاریاں حائل ہیں۔ جو شخص شیطان کی فریب کاریوں سے اپنے آپ کو بچائے وہی جنت کے ابدی باغوں میں داخل ہوگا۔ اور جو لوگ شیطان کی فریب کاریوں کا پردہ پھاڑنے میں ناکام رہیں وہی وہ لوگ ہیں جو جنت سے محروم رہ گئے۔
