أَوۡ يُلۡقَىٰٓ إِلَيۡهِ كَنزٌ أَوۡ تَكُونُ لَهُۥ جَنَّةٞ يَأۡكُلُ مِنۡهَاۚ وَقَالَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلٗا مَّسۡحُورًا
Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him [from heaven], or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic
Every preacher giving the call for Truth has had to face the same experience, as that of a Prophet. While his contemporaries looked down upon him with contempt, the people of succeeding ages venerated the preacher like a god. This is so because during his lifetime, a prophet lives the life of an ordinary human being and his contemporaries therefore fail to appreciate the wisdom he propagates. They see him cast in an overly idealized form, wearing the halo conferred by legend, and therefore, feel obliged to pay homage to him and glorify him in an exaggerated manner. The minds of succeeding generations develop such deep-seated notions about the extraordinary greatness of the prophet, that nobody is held superior to or even at par with him. A living prophet, however, is treated scornfully by the majority of his contemporaries. The few who develop a reasoned understanding of his message are also ‘advised’ to disassociate themselves from one who is “possessed”. Having no rational arguments, the unrelenting contemporaries of a prophet, resort to unfair vilification of his image so as to curb the preaching of his message.
حق کے ہر داعی کے ساتھ یہ ہوا ہے کہ اس کے زمانہ کے لوگوں نے اس کو حقیر سمجھا۔ اور بعد کے لوگوں نے اس کی پرستش کی۔ اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ اپنی زندگی میں وہ اپنی حقیقی شخصیت کے ساتھ لوگوں کے سامنے ہوتا ہے۔ اس ليے وہ انھیں بس ایک عام انسان کی مانند دکھائی دیتا ہے۔ مگر بعد کو اس کی شخصیت کے گرد افسانوی قصوں کا ہالہ بن جاتا ہے۔ بعد کے لوگ اس کو مبالغہ آمیز روپ میں دیکھتے ہیں۔ اس ليے بعد کے لوگ مبالغہ آمیز حد تک اس کی تعظیم وتقدیس کرنے لگتے ہیں۔
بعد کے زمانے میں لوگوں کے ذہنوں میں پیغمبر کی غیر معمولی عظمت قائم ہوجاتی ہے۔ اس ليے کوئی بڑا اپنے آپ کو پیغمبر سے بڑا نہیں پاتا۔ مگر پیغمبر کی زندگی میں اس کی جو ظاہری صورت حال ہوتی ہے وہ وقت کے بڑوں کو موقع دیتی ہے کہ وہ پیغمبر کے مقابلہ میں متکبرانہ نفسیات میں مبتلا ہوسکیں۔ ایسے لوگ جب کچھ لوگوں کو دیکھتے ہیں کہ وہ پیغمبر کی باتوں کو سن کر متاثر ہورہے ہیں تو وہ ان کے تاثر کو گھٹانے کے ليے کہہ دیتے ہیں کہ یہ تو ایک مجنون ہے، یہ تو ایک سحر زدہ انسان ہے، وغیرہ۔ وہ دلیل کے میدان میں اپنے آپ کو عاجز پاکر عیب لگانے کا طریقہ اختیار کرتے ہیں۔ حالاں کہ دلیل کے ذریعہ کسی کو ردکرنا عین درست ہے جب کہ عیب لگا کر کسی کو بدنام کرنا سراسر نادرست۔
