فَرَجَعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ فَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّكُمۡ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers
On hearing such replies from Abraham, the people could have accused him of insolence and taken him to task, as usually happens in such cases. But, in spite of their being polytheists, there seemed to be some sense of reason left in them. So, realizing the force of the rationality in his replies, they felt ashamed and admitted that they were wrong. Had they not subsequently fallen a prey to prejudices, this experience would have been sufficient to lead them towards the true faith.
حضرت ابراہیم کے ان جوابات پر وہ لوگ آپ کو گستاخ ٹھہرا کر بگڑ سکتے تھے۔ جیسا کہ ان مواقع پر عام طور ہوتا ہے۔ تاہم بت پرستی کے باوجود ان میں ابھی زندگی موجود تھی۔ چنانچہ انھوں نے آپ کے جواب کے استدلالی وزن کو محسوس کیا۔ اور شرمندہ ہو کر اپنے برسرناحق ہونے کا اعتراف کیا۔ بعد کو اگر عصبیت کے جذبات نہ ابھر آتے تو یہ تجربہ انھیں ایمان تک پہنچانے کے لیے کافی ہوجاتا۔
