۞وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَآ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ رُشۡدَهُۥ مِن قَبۡلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَٰلِمِينَ
And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing
It is God’s principle to give according to the capability of the receiver. Abraham passed through different trials and tests and proved his mettle: God accordingly gave him guidance and divine knowledge. This is how God deals with His subjects. Abraham was born in Iraq in the ancient city of Ur. At that time polytheism was all-pervasive. In spite of being brought up in this polytheistic atmosphere, Abraham was not influenced by it. He examined things rationally, rising completely above his immediate environment, he was able to discover the truth. He was living in a world where every worldly honour and progress were linked with polytheism. But he did not care for all this. Unmindful of all worldly considerations, he criticised the behaviour of his community and became ready to declare the Truth before it—these are the attributes which make an individual capable of receiving God’s guidance.
خدا کے یہاں فیض بقدرِ استعداد کا اصول ہے۔ حضرت ابراہیم نے مختلف امتحانات سے گزر کر جس استعداد کا ثبوت دیا تھا اس کو خدا نے جانا اور اس کے مطابق ان کو ہدایت اور معرفت عطا فرمائی۔ یہی معاملہ خدا کا اپنے ہر بندے کے ساتھ ہے۔
حضرت ابراہیم عراق کے قدیم شہر اُر میں پیدا ہوئے۔ اس وقت یہاں کی زندگی میں پوری طرح شرک چھایا ہوا تھا۔مشرکانہ ماحول میں پرورش پانے کہ باوجود وہ اس سے متاثر نہیں ہوئے۔ انھوں نے چیزوں کو خود اپنی عقل سے جانچا اور ماحول کے علی الرغم توحید کی صداقت کو پالیا۔ وہ ایسی دنیا میں تھے جہاں ہر قسم کی عزت اور ترقی شرک سے وابستہ ہو گئی تھی۔ مگر انھوں نے کسی چیز کی پروا نہیں کی۔ تمام مصلحتوں سے بے نیاز ہو کر قوم کی روش پر تنقید کی اور اس کے سامنے حق کا اعلان کرنے کے ليے کھڑے ہو گئے— یہی وہ صفات ہیں جو کسی شخص کو اس قابل بناتی ہیں کہ اس کو خدا کی ہدایت حاصل ہو۔
