وَأَلۡقِ مَا فِي يَمِينِكَ تَلۡقَفۡ مَا صَنَعُوٓاْۖ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُواْ كَيۡدُ سَٰحِرٖۖ وَلَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلسَّاحِرُ حَيۡثُ أَتَىٰ
And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is
The competition started with the magicians throwing their ropes and sticks on the ground where they seemed to move about in the shape of snakes. But this was an illusory effect. In other words, the ropes and sticks had not really changed into snakes. The magicians had simply created an optical illusion to play upon the imagination of the audience, so that it would temporarily appear to them as if the ropes and sticks were wriggling on the ground like snakes. Then, in accordance with God’s orders, Moses threw his stick on the ground where it immediately assumed the shape of a big snake, and started moving along the ground. At its touch, the magicians’ spell broke, then all the things which had appeared to be moving about like snakes turned back into mere ropes and sticks. The magicians had already been impressed by Moses’ speech, and now that they had had a practical demonstration of his powers, they saw with their own eyes the truth of Moses’ stand. They were now absolutely certain that the power Moses possessed was not that of human magic, but the actual ability to perform a miracle of God. This conviction was so deep that they thereupon declared their conversion to Moses’ faith.
مقابلہ اس طرح شروع ہوا کہ جادوگروں نے پہلے اپنی رسّیاں اور لاٹھیاں میدان میں پھینکیں تو ان کی رسّیاں اور لاٹھیاں سانپ بن کر چلتی ہوئی دکھائی دينے لگيں۔ تاہم یہ صرف نظر بندی کا معاملہ تھا۔ یعنی رسّیاں اور لاٹھیاں فی الواقع سانپ نہیں بن گئیں تھیں بلکہ جادو گروں نے نظر بندی کے عمل سے حاضرین کی قوت خیالی کو اس طرح متاثر کیا کہ انھیں وقتی طورپر دکھائی دیا کہ رسّیاں اور لاٹھیاں سانپ کی مانند میدان میں چل رہیں ہیں۔
اس وقت اللہ تعالیٰ کے حکم سے حضرت موسیٰ نے اپنی لاٹھی میدان میں پھینکی۔ ان کی لاٹھی فوراً بہت بڑا سانپ بن کر میدان میں دوڑنے لگی۔اس نے جادو گروں کے نظر بندی کے طلسم کو نگل لیا۔ وہ چیزیں جو سانپوں کی شکل میں چلتی ہوئی نظر آتی تھیں، وہ اس کے چھوتے ہی محض رسّی اور لاٹھی ہو کر رہ گئیں۔
جادو گر حضرت موسیٰ کا کلام سن کر پہلے ہی اس سے متاثر ہوچکے تھے۔ اب جب عملی مظاہرہ ہوا تو انھوںنے حضرت موسیٰ کی صداقت کو اپنی کھلی آنکھوں سے دیکھ لیا۔ انھوں نے یقین کے ساتھ جان لیا کہ موسیٰ کے پاس جو چیز ہے وہ کوئی انسانی جادو نہیں ہے بلکہ وہ خدائی معجزہ ہے۔ یہ یقین اتنا گہرا تھا کہ انھوںنے اسی وقت حضرت موسیٰ کے دین کو اختیار کرنے کا اعلان کردیا۔
