وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَيُّ ٱلۡفَرِيقَيۡنِ خَيۡرٞ مَّقَامٗا وَأَحۡسَنُ نَدِيّٗا
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two parties is best in position and best in association
Those who do not care about what is right or what is wrong, who prefer the considerations of this world to those of the life hereafter and who choose to please other people rather than God, are always successful from the worldly point of view. They are surrounded by glamour and glitter. As opposed to this, those who in all their dealings are worried about right and wrong, who ignore the considerations of this world and prefer those of the life hereafter, and who care for God rather than the attitude of the public, are often bereft of external pomp and glory. This difference gives rise to misunderstandings. It is thought that those who are better off from the worldly point of view are God’s favoured ones and those who do not enjoy this position in this world are low in God’s esteem. But this is a completely wrong assessment, and past history contradicts and disproves it. How many haughty heads of the past have rolled and are buried in the ground? And how many grand palaces are there still extant today that have not fallen into ruin?
جو لوگ حق ناحق کی بحث میں نہ پڑیں، جو آخرت کے مقابلہ میں دنیا کی مصلحتوں کو اہمیت دیں، جو خدا کو خوش کرنے سے زیادہ عوام کو خوش کرنے کا اہتمام کرتے ہوں۔ ایسے لوگ ہمیشہ زیادہ کامیاب رہتے ہیں۔ ان کے گرد زیادہ رونق اور شان جمع ہوجاتی ہے۔ دوسری طرف جو لوگ ہر معاملہ میں یہ دیکھیں کہ حق کیا ہے اور ناحق کیا۔ جو دنیا کی مصلحتوں کو نظر انداز کریں اور آخرت کی مصلحتوں کو ترجیح دیں۔جو عوامی رجحان سے زیادہ خدا کا لحاظ کریں۔ ایسے لوگ اکثر ظاہری شان وشوکت والی چیزوں سے محروم رہتے ہیں۔
یہ فرق بہت سے لوگوں کے لیے غلط فہمی کا سبب بن جاتا ہے۔ وہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ جو لوگ دنیوی اعتبار سے بہتر ہیں وہ خدا کے پسندیدہ ہیں اور جو لوگ دنیوی اعتبار سے بہترنہیں وہ خدا کے نزدیک ناپسندیدہ ہیں۔ مگر یہ معیار سراسر غلط ہے۔ اور ماضی کی تاریخ اس کی تردید کرنے کے لیے کافی ہے۔ کتنے پر فخر سرزمین کے نیچے دفن ہوگئے۔ کتنے محل ہیں جوآج کھنڈر کے سوا کسی اور صورت میں دیکھنے والوں کو نظر نہیں آتے۔
