وَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُم مَّثَلَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخۡتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَأَصۡبَحَ هَشِيمٗا تَذۡرُوهُ ٱلرِّيَٰحُۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ مُّقۡتَدِرًا
And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability
Things in this present world make the world hereafter understandable to us. When the earth, after getting water, becomes fresh and green, it appears as if it will remain like this for ever. But thereafter the weather changes and all the greenery dries up and withers away. The glamour of this world is no different. The charms of the world attract a man, but they are all quite ephemeral. Doomsday (the Day of Judgement) will soon destroy them in such a manner that it will appear as if they never existed. The attraction of the world will not last, but here there is one thing that is going to endure forever and that is the good and pious deeds of a man. Just as plants in the garden grow by seeds being sown in the earth, so also there is a garden which flourishes by God being remembered and obeyed. This garden never has a winter season. Unlike the garden of the world, this garden grows in the life hereafter but it will be available there only to the sower of seeds.
دنیا آخرت کی تمثیل ہے۔ پانی پاکر زمین جب سر سبز ہوجاتی ہے تو بظاہر ایسا معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ وہ ہمیشہ اسی طرح رہے گی، مگر اس کے بعد موسم بدلتا ہے اور سارا سبزہ سوکھ کر ختم ہو جاتاہے۔
یہی حال دنیا کی رونق کا ہے۔ موجودہ دنیا کی رونقیں آدمی کو اپنی طرف کھینچتی ہیں۔ مگر یہ تمام رونقیں انتہائی عارضی ہیں۔ قیامت بہت جلد ان کو اس طرح ختم کردے گی کہ ایسا معلوم ہوگا جیسے ان کا کوئی وجود ہی نہ تھا۔
دنیا کی رونقیں باقی نہیں رہتیں مگر یہاں ایک اور چیز ہے جو ہمیشہ باقی رہنے والی ہے۔ اور وہ انسان کے نیک اعمال ہیں۔ جس طرح زمین میں بیج ڈالنے سے باغ اگتا ہے اسی طرح اللہ کی یاد اور اللہ کی فرماں برداری سے بھی ایک باغ اگتاہے۔ اس باغ پر کبھی خزاں نہیں آتی۔ مگر دنیوی باغ کے برعکس یہ دوسرا باغ آخرت میں اگتا ہے اور وہیں وہ اپنے اگانے والے کو ملے گا۔
