وَكَذَٰلِكَ بَعَثۡنَٰهُمۡ لِيَتَسَآءَلُواْ بَيۡنَهُمۡۚ قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡۖ قَالُواْ لَبِثۡنَا يَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ يَوۡمٖۚ قَالُواْ رَبُّكُمۡ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثۡتُمۡ فَٱبۡعَثُوٓاْ أَحَدَكُم بِوَرِقِكُمۡ هَٰذِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ فَلۡيَنظُرۡ أَيُّهَآ أَزۡكَىٰ طَعَامٗا فَلۡيَأۡتِكُم بِرِزۡقٖ مِّنۡهُ وَلۡيَتَلَطَّفۡ وَلَا يُشۡعِرَنَّ بِكُمۡ أَحَدًا
And similarly, We awakened them that they might question one another. Said a speaker from among them, "How long have you remained [here]?" They said, "We have remained a day or part of a day." They said, "Your Lord is most knowing of how long you remained. So send one of you with this silver coin of yours to the city and let him look to which is the best of food and bring you provision from it and let him be cautious. And let no one be aware of you
When the Men of the Cave woke up from their sleep, they naturally started discussing the duration of their sleep. But, time had stopped for them by God’s order and as such the period which was spread over centuries for others appeared to be just one day for the Men of the Cave. After getting up they felt hungry. Still having some silver coins in their possession, they sent one of their number out with a coin. They insisted on his searching for clean food thinking that perhaps ‘halal’ food would be available in the Christian localities of the city. Moreover, they advised the concerned person to handle the matter cautiously and wisely, because, on the basis of past experience, they were afraid that if their opponents came to know of their existence, they would try to persuade them to return to polytheism and, on their refusal, they would kill them.
اصحابِ کہف جب سوکر اٹھے تو قدرتی طورپر وہ آپس میں ذکر کرنے لگے کہ وہ کتنی مدت تک سوئے ہوں گے۔ مگر زمانہ خدا کے حکم کے تحت ان کے لیے ٹھہر گیا تھا۔ اس لیے جو مدت دوسروں کے لیے صدیوں میں پھیلی ہوئی تھی وہ اصحابِ کہف کو بس ایک دن کے برابر معلوم ہوئی۔
سو کر اٹھنے کے بعد انھیں بھوک کا احساس ہوا۔ ان کے پاس کچھ چاندی کے سکے تھے۔ انھوںنے اپنے میں سے ایک شخص کو ایک سکّہ لے کر بھیجا۔ غالباً ان کا خیال ہوگا کہ شہر کے جن حصوں میں عیسائی بستے ہوں گے وہاں حلال کھانا مل سکے گا۔ اس لیے انھوںنے کہا کہ تلاش کرکے پاکیزہ کھانا لے آنا۔ نیز انھوںنے تاکید کی کہ سارا معاملہ نہایت خوش تدبیری سے انجام دینا۔ کیوں کہ سابقہ تجربہ کی بنا پر انھیں اندیشہ تھا کہ اگر وہ لوگ ہم سے باخبر ہوجائیں گے تو وہ ہمیں دوبارہ بت پرست بنانے کی کوشش کریں گے۔اور جب ہم راضی نہ ہوں گے تو وہ ہم کو مار ڈالیں گے۔
