قَالَ أَرَءَيۡتَكَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كَرَّمۡتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنۡ أَخَّرۡتَنِ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ لَأَحۡتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا
[Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy his descendants, except for a few
The story of the angels and Satan shows the difference between the believers and the unbelievers. The believers see the truth as truth, therefore they do not find any difficulty in understanding it. They take no time in accepting it, just as the angels did at the time of the birth of Adam. On the other hand, there is another category consisting of those who see the truth in relation only to their own selves. This is how Satan saw the truth—in relation to his own self. Since the command to prostrate himself before Adam appeared to make him a lesser being than Adam, Satan refused to comply. Seen in the context of the challenge given by Satan to God, everyone who ignores the truth because acceptance of the truth would amount to belittling his own position, has fallen a prey to Satan.
فرشتے اور ابلیس کا قصہ بتاتاہے کہ ماننے والے کیسے ہوتے ہیں اور نہ ماننے والے کیسے۔ ماننے والے لوگ حق کو حق کے لحاظ سے دیکھتے ہیں چنانچہ اس کو سمجھنے میں انھیں دیر نہیں لگتی۔ وہ فوراً اس کو سمجھ کر اسے مان لیتے ہیں۔ جیسا کہ آدم کی پیدائش کے وقت فرشتوںنے کیا۔
دوسرے لوگ وہ ہیں جو حق کو اپنے ذات کی نسبت سے دیکھتے ہیں۔ شیطان نے یہی کیا۔ ا س نے حق کو اپنی ذات کی نسبت سے دیکھا۔ چوں کہ سجدۂ آدم کا حکم آدم کو بظاہر بڑا بنارہا تھا اور اس کو چھوٹا، اس نے ایسے حق کو ماننے سے انکار کردیا جس کو ماننے کے بعد اس کی اپنے ذات چھوٹی ہوجائے۔
شیطان نے خدا کو جو چیلنج دیا تھا اس کو سامنے رکھ کر دیکھيے تو ہر وہ شخص شیطان کا شکار نظر آئے گا جو حق کو اس لیے نظر انداز کردے کہ اس کو ماننے کی صورت میں اس کی اپنی ذات دوسرے کے مقابلہ میں چھوٹی ہوجاتی ہے۔
