وَلَقَدِ ٱسۡتُهۡزِئَ بِرُسُلٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ فَأَمۡلَيۡتُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ أَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ
And already were [other] messengers ridiculed before you, and I extended the time of those who disbelieved; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty
The real reason for denial of the truth is not any shortcoming in reasoning. It is due rather to man having been given the freedom to accept it or not. As long as a man has the freedom to reject, he can seek an excuse to reject anything. If an argument is presented to him using a particular mode of expression, he will find some other mode of expression to reject it. If reference is made to some signs of the universe, he will produce some explanation of his own devising to contradict it, so much so that if mountains were made to move on the surface of the earth, or dead bodies were brought to life, even then nothing could prevent him from saying that this was all magic. Sometimes it happens that a rejecter apparently demands an explanation, but in actual fact he is indulging in ridicule; he wants to show that whatever the missionary is presenting is not the truth. Had his message really been true, the missionary would have had an argument with him which everyone would have been compelled to accept. God has given mankind a period of respite, due to which people have become fearless, but when this period ends and God catches hold of people, then man will see that he had all along been powerless, though he had supposed himself to be powerful.
حق کو نہ ماننے کا اصل سبب دلیل کی کمی نہیں بلکہ انسان کی یہ آزادی ہے کہ وہ چاہے تو مانے اور چاہے تو نہ مانے۔ جب تک انسان کو انکار کی آزادی حاصل ہے وہ کسی بھی چیز کا انکار کرنے کے لیے عذر تلاش کرسکتاہے۔
اس کے سامنے الفاظ میں ایک دلیل لائی جائے تو وہ کچھ دوسرے الفاظ بول کر اسے رد کردے گا۔ کائنات کی نشانیوں کا حوالہ دیا جائے تو وہ اس کی تردید کے لیے خود ساختہ توجیہہ تلاش کرلے گا۔ حتی کہ اگر پہاڑ چلائے جائیں اور زمین پھاڑ دی جائے اور مُردوں کو زندہ کردیا جائے تب بھی کوئی چیز آدمی کو یہ کہنے سے روک نہیں سکتی کہ یہ تو جادو ہے۔
بعض اوقات ایسا ہوتاہے کہ انکار کرنے والا بظاہر دلیل مانگتا ہے۔ مگر حقیقۃً وہ استہزاء کررہا ہوتاہے۔ وہ یہ ظاہرکرنا چاہتاہے کہ یہ شخص جو چیز پیش کررہا ہے وہ حق نہیں۔ اگر وہ فی الواقع حق ہوتا تو ضرور اس کے پاس ایسی دلیل ہوتی کہ سارے لوگ اس کو ماننے پر مجبور ہوجاتے۔
خدا نے لوگوں کو مہلت دی ہے اس کی وجہ سے لوگ بے خوف ہوگئے ہیں۔ مگر جب مہلت ختم ہوگی اور خدا لوگوں کو پکڑے گا تو آدمی دیکھے گا کہ وہ کس قدر بے اختیار تھا، اگر چہ وہ فرضی طورپر اپنے کو خود مختار سمجھتا رہا۔
