وَلَمَّا جَآءَ أَمۡرُنَا نَجَّيۡنَا شُعَيۡبٗا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحۡمَةٖ مِّنَّا وَأَخَذَتِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ فَأَصۡبَحُواْ فِي دِيَٰرِهِمۡ جَٰثِمِينَ
And when Our command came, We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us. And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone
The people of Shu‘ayb’s community considered themselves Lords of Midian, taking things which had been given to them for the purpose of putting them to the test as their inalienable right. With all this in mind, they planned aggressive measures against Shu‘ayb. They even threatened to banish him and his companions from their land (
7:88
). But in the land which they considered their very own and of which they had become landlords, a terrible earthquake with horrifying tremors erupted at God’s behest; as a result of which, the whole region was destroyed. They were annihilated in their own domain, as if they had never existed. However, those members of the community who had accepted Shu‘ayb’s word, and had become his companions, were saved by special divine intervention.
حضرت شعیب کی قوم کے لوگ سمجھتے تھے کہ وہ مدین کے مالک ہیں جو چیز انھیں امتحان کی مصلحت کے تحت دی گئی تھی اس کو انھوں نے اپنا مستقل حق سمجھ لیا۔ اس احساس کے تحت انھوںنے آپ کے خلاف جارحانہ تدبیریں کیں۔ انھوںنے آپ کو یہ دھمکی بھی دی کہ ہم تم کو اور تمھارے ساتھیوں کو اپنی سرزمین سے نکال دیں گے (الاعراف،
7:88
) مگر وہی زمین جس کو وہ اپنی زمین سمجھتے تھے اور جس کے وہ مالک بنے ہوئے تھے، وہاں خدا کے حکم سے ہولناک گڑگڑاہٹ کے ساتھ زلزلہ آیا، جس کے نتیجہ میں یہ پورا علاقہ تباہ ہوگیا۔ وہ خود اپنی دنیا میں اس طرح مٹ کر رہ گئے جیسے کبھی ان کا وجود ہی نہ تھا۔
البتہ قوم کے وہ افراد جنھوں نے حضرت شعیب کی بات مانی تھی اور آپ کے ساتھ ہوگئے تھے ان کو خصوصی نصرت سے بچا لیا گیا۔
