وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيۡتَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةٗ وَأَمۡوَٰلٗا فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِكَۖ رَبَّنَا ٱطۡمِسۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ وَٱشۡدُدۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ فَلَا يُؤۡمِنُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
And Moses said, "Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that they may lead [men] astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment
Those who are anxious about the Hereafter are generally slow to accumulate worldly things as compared to those who, completely neglecting the Hereafter, rush towards worldly benefits. A lessening of worldly prosperity is the cost of being mindful of the Hereafter and material prosperity is attained at the cost of being neglectful of the Hereafter. Moreover, one who has worldly glory and worldly things in abundance, develops a superiority complex. The result is that such people lose the innate capacity to recognise and appreciate the Truth when expounded by another and to bow down before it. Had they considered as a gift from God the resources they possessed, they would have spent them in supporting the cause of Truth. But, they consider these gifts of God stemming from their own talents. So, they utilise them to suppress the Truth and in this way maintain their supremacy. ‘Whereby they lead people astray from Your path.’ means that they used the wealth and resources granted by God solely for the purpose of alienating God’s subjects from Him: instead of devoting them to the service of Truth, they utilized them in the service of falsehood. Here, for the sake of making statements more forcefully, the style of discourse has changed. Moses called upon Pharaoh and his entourage to accept the true religion, and with the help of his great talents and God’s asssistance, he made his message clear down to the last detail. In spite of this, Pharaoh and his nobles did not accept the message of Moses. At that time Moses prayed: ‘O, God, give Pharaoh and others such punishment as arrogant people are destined to receive in accordance with Your law.’ The curse of a prophet, although issuing from the mouth of God’s representative, is actually a declaration made by God Himself.
جو لوگ آخرت کی فکر کرتے ہیں وہ عام طور پر دنیوی ساز وسامان جمع کرنے میں ان لوگوں سے پیچھے رہ جاتے ہیں جو آخرت سے بے فکر ہو کر دنیا حاصل کرنے میں لگے ہوئے ہوں۔دنیوی کمی آخرت کی طرف دھیان لگانے کی قیمت ہے، اور دنیوی زیادتی آخرت سے غافل ہونے کی قیمت۔
مزید یہ کہ جس کے پاس دنیا کی رونق اور سامان زیادہ جمع ہوجائیں وہ بڑائی کے احساس میں مبتلا ہوجاتا ہے۔ نتیجہ یہ ہوتاہے کہ ایسے لوگ اپنے اندر یہ صلاحیت کھودیتے ہیں کہ کسی دوسرے کی زبان سے جاری ہونے والے حق کو پہچانیں اور اس کے آگے جھک جائیں۔ اپنے وسائل کو اگر وہ خدا کا عطیہ سمجھتے تو اس کو حق کی تائید میں استعمال کرتے، مگر وہ اس کو اپنا ذاتی کمال سمجھتے ہیں اس ليے وہ اس کو صرف اس مقصد کے لیے استعمال کرتے ہیں کہ حق کو دبائیں اور اس طرح ماحول کے اندر اپنی برتری قائم رکھیں۔
’’تاکہ وہ تیری راہ سے بھٹکائیں‘‘ کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ انھوں نے اللہ کے ديے ہوئے مال واسباب کو صرف اس لیے استعمال کیا کہ اس کے ذریعے سے خدا کے بندوں کو خدا سے دور کریں، انھوں نے اس کو حق کی خدمت میں لگانے کے بجائے باطل کی خدمت میں لگایا، یہاں شدت بیان کی خاطر کلام کا اسلوب بدل گیا ہے۔
حضرت موسیٰ نے فرعون اور اس کے ساتھیوں کے سامنے سچے دین کی دعوت پیش کی اور اپنی اعلیٰ صلاحیتوں اور خدا کی نصرتوں کے ذریعہ اس کو اتمام حجت کی حد تک واضح کردیا، اس کے باوجود فرعون اور اس کے ساتھیوں نے آنجناب کے پیغام کو نہیں مانا۔ اس وقت حضرت موسیٰ نے دعا کی کہ خدایا ان کے اوپر وہ سزا نازل فرما جو تیرے قانون کے تحت ایسے سرکشوں کے لیے مقدر ہے۔ ایسے موقع پر پیغمبر کی بد دعا خود خدا کے فیصلہ کا اعلان ہوتاہے جو نمائندہ خدا کی زبان سے جاری کیا جاتاہے۔
حضرت موسیٰ کی دعا قبول ہوگئی۔ تاہم جیسا کہ بعض روایات میں آتاہے، حضرت موسیٰ کی دعا اور فرعون کی تباہی کے درمیان 40 سال کا فاصلہ ہے(تفسير النسفی، جلد2، صفحہ

) ۔ اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ اس کے بعد بھی لمبی مدت تک یہ صورت حال باقی رہی کہ حضرت موسیٰ اور آپ کے ساتھی اپنے آپ کو بے بس پاتے تھے۔ اور دوسری طرف فرعون اور اس کے ساتھیوں کی شان وشوکت بدستور ملک میں قائم تھی۔ ایسی حالت میں آدمی اگر خدا کی اس سنت سے بے خبر ہو کہ وہ سرکشوں کو مہلت دیتاہے تو وہ جلد بازی میں اصل کام چھوڑ دے گااور مایوسی اور بددلی کا شکار ہو کر رہ جائے گا۔
