Islam: the religion of peace

امریکن یونیورسٹی (واشنگٹن) میںایک سہ روزہ سمپوزیم فروری 1998ء میں ہوا۔ اس کے اجلاس 6فروری میں راقم الحروف نے اسلام اور امن پر ایک تقریر کی۔ اس تقریر کا ایک حصہ یہ تھا

It is no exaggeration to say that Islam and violence are contradictory to each other. The concept of Islamic violence is so obviously unfounded that prima facie it stands rejected. The fact that violence is not sustainable in the present world is enough to believe that violence as a principle is quite alien to the scheme of things in Islam. Islam claims to be an eternal religion and an eternal religion cannot afford a principle in its scheme which was not sustainable in the latter periods of human history. Any attempt to bracket violence with Islam amounts to making the very eternity of Islamic religion doubtful. (Al-Risala, August 1998, p. 9)

اسلامک ٹیررزم اسی طرح ایک متضاد اصطلاح ہے جس طرح پُر امن دہشت گردی (pacifistic terrorism) ۔ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اسلام کی تمام تعلیمات امن کے اصول پر مبنی ہیں، خواہ براہ راست طورپر یا بالواسطہ طور پر۔
